My R6 Background

9Ball Esports was an amateur R6 community started by my friends, Zach “Treasure” Zahnle & Chase “Booker” DeWitt.

Together, we cultivated 9Ball and turned it into a thriving amateur community.

My role within 9Ball was Head Designer. I made the logo, motion graphics, stream packages, and social media assets.

 9Ball Branding

I designed the template for our staff’s Twitter profiles. The illustrated operators were central to the branding of 9Ball.

These images are from 9Ball’s Hall of Fame. I immortalized the winners of each of our weekly draft tournaments to give back a tangible reward to the community, and celebrate our community.

Tournaments and Partnerships

9Ball also organized and hosted competitive tournaments with Pro League rulesets. This lead to 9Ball reaching out to other amateur R6 communities and forming a cooperative partnership we named Pantheon.
Each community was given sovereignty over managing their own tournament, so long as they adhered to the same competitive ruleset. Our December tournament “Wreck the Halls” kicked off this tournament series, which we envisioned would culminate in a higher-stakes invitational.
Unfortunately, the other communities were unable to meet our expectations and deadlines, so the series had to be cancelled. But the branding and visuals I developed for Pantheon and Wreck the halls showed a promising series with great potential.

The end of 9Ball

Due to limited availability and the time commitment required to keep 9Ball growing, the admin staff decided to end the project and move on to a more promising R6 startup: Solar Flare Competitive League
